Well, not quite, but what Jeff Webber has achieved in this slow burning but ultimately fascinating novel will leave the reader wanting more.

Scott Hathaway is an electrical engineer with a passion for SNARK. (Society of Nerds Actively Roleplaying Knighthood.) Struck by lighting in a high voltage facility, Scott wakes up to discover that Brandon, an apprentice magician has cast his first spell inadvertently propelling Scott Into another world. Brandon’s world. One fantasy world into another. Only this time the fantasy has become reality. In a magical realm, Scott becomes the real magician when he uses his engineering skills to help defeat the evil Baron Harkness. What seems mundane in one world becomes magical in another.

Elements of mediaeval warfare are aptly demonstrated in the castle siege scenes and battles which are breathtaking in their detail. Trebuchet aficionados please take note. Lovers of Sci Fi, History and Fantasy will love this. It’s got the lot. The writing is at times technical which is to be expected but remains eminently readable.
